Support

The Association supports students participating in Ohpaho band programs, including Senior Band, Junior Band, Jazz Band, Choir, Guitar Band, and other music ensembles as opportunities and resources allow.

Through fundraising, volunteer efforts, and community partnerships, out goal is to provide opportunities that enhance the student experience, including workshops, clinics, band camps, festivals, uniforms, and other program needs.

Workshops & Camps

Some of the most impactful moments in a student's musical journey happen outside of the classroom. Through workshops, clinics, and band camps, students have the opportunity to learn from experienced musicians, explore new ideas, and spend dedicated time making music with their peers. These experiences help foster confidence, connection, and a deeper engagement with music while creating memories that can last long after graduation.

Clinicians

Guest clinicians provide students with opportunities to learn from experienced musicians and educators who bring specialized expertise to the classroom. Through clinics, sectionals, and workshops, students receive additional guidance and mentorship that complements their regular instruction. These experiences help keep students engaged, motivated, and inspired while strengthening the overall quality of our music programs.

Events

Our events celebrate the hard work and achievements of our student musicians while creating opportunities for families, friends, and community members to connect through music. From concerts and performances to fundraisers and special events, these gatherings help build a strong and supportive band community. They provide students with opportunities to showcase their talents, gain valuable performance experience, and create memories that will stay with them long after their school years. Through these events, we not only support our music programs but also foster a shared sense of pride, belonging, and appreciation for the arts.

Mr. Fred Mack

Music Director

Ohpaho Secondary School

Mr. Mack is an award-winning music educator and graduate of MacEwan University's Bachelor of Music program. Recognized as Alberta's Young Band Teacher of the Year, he is passionate about creating meaningful opportunities for students through music education. Around Ohpaho, he's become somewhat of a jack-of-all-trades, leading not only the school's growing music programs, but also the Outdoor Education program.

Under his leadership, the music programs at OSS continue to grow through concerts, festivals, competitions, workshops, and collaborative performance opportunities. He has also played a key role in developing the combined Senior Band partnership between Ohpaho Secondary School and Leduc Composite High School, helping students from both schools learn, perform, and grow together as musicians.

The Ohpaho Band Parents Association is proud to support Mr. Mack's vision, enthusiasm, and commitment to creating memorable experiences for students both on and off the stage.
